Arizona traffic stop uncovers 251 kg of cocaine concealed in truck headed to Canada
A traffic stop in Arizona led to the discovery of 251 kg of cocaine concealed in a commercial vehicle headed to Canada.
On Jan. 6, an Arizona Department of Public Safety commercial vehicle enforcement trooper initiated a traffic stop on the driver of a tractor-trailer on eastbound Interstate 40 in Holbrook for civil traffic violations, according to a news release.
During the traffic stop and commercial motor vehicle inspection, the trooper observed multiple indicators of criminal activity. A search of the truck and trailer revealed 553.8 lb. (251 kg) of cocaine concealed within a produce load.

Further investigation revealed the drugs were being smuggled from the cities of Salinas and Los Angeles, Calif., to Canada.
The driver, 31-year-old Amarjeet Singh Matharu, was arrested and booked into the Navajo County Jail on charges including possession and transportation of narcotic drugs for sale.
The estimated street value of the cocaine seized is between approximately US$16.6 million and US$22.1 million.

Better slap some tarrifs on all US goods coming to Canada until Trump does something about all the drugs and guns coming into Canada from the USA.
