Kindersley lauded for commitment to diversity
SASKATOON, Sask. – Kindersley Transport says recognition for its employment equity and diversity program is a humbling experience. The group was one of 18 recognized last Fall with an inaugural Employment Equity Achievement Award (EEAA) from the Government of Canada. The EEAA is awarded to companies that are subject to the federal Employment Equity Act, who have implemented programs to help create more diverse workplaces.

Splinter reflects on cancer, HR challenges
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – Angela Splinter, the chief executive officer of Trucking HR Canada, didn’t begin by talking about cancer. When she took to the podium of the organization’s annual Women with Drive leadership summit, she focused specifically on human resources challenges. The labor shortage in trucking is real, she said, referring to an intensifying capacity crunch. “There is a limited supply of quality talent available.” But where 48% of Canada’s workforce includes women, they represent around 3% of drivers and technicians.
Panelists for Women with Drive 2018 unveiled
TORONTO, ON - Packed with powerful women, the line-up at the fourth annual Women with Drive Leadership Summit, hosted by Trucking HR Canada, will focus on the recruitment and retention of women in the trucking industry. Executive Director of Catalyst Canada, Tanya van Biesen will give a State of Women in Business address, as the March summit's keynote speaker. Catalyst is a nonprofit working with organizations to accelerate progress for women in boardrooms across the country. van Biesen brings more than two decades of corporate leadership and diversity experience to the discussion.
Recruitment the focus of Women with Drive summit
TORONTO, ON - Recruitment and retention will be the topic of discussion at Trucking HR Canada's fourth annual Women with Drive summit being held March 1, 2018 in Toronto. The panel discussion will focus on company branding on multiple platforms and how that can influence or help companies attract employees. Called "Outside in" the panel will feature experts from the social media platform Linkedin, and the employment website Workopolis. The panel will talk about attracting women and other under-represented groups to the trucking industry.

OTTAWA, ON - This November Trucking HR Canada is calling on all fleets to introduce the pint-sized members of their families to the trucking industry. The organization is working with The Learning Partnership, a group devoted to advancing publicly funded education, and encouraging more fleets to participate in national Take Our Kids to Work Day, November 1.
Trucking HR names chairman, acting CEO
OTTAWA, ON - Trucking HR Canada has named Mike McCarron of Left Lane Associates as its new chairman, while David Bradley of the Canadian Trucking Alliance will serve as acting Chief Executive Officer. Both moves come as Chief Executive Officer Angela Splinter takes a temporary medical leave of absence. Isabelle Hétu is promoted from her role as program manager to director - programs and services, and will be responsible for day-to-day operations.
