MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The 2003 Ontario Truck Driving Championships (OTDC) will be held tomorrow starting at 9 a.m. and running through until 3 p.m. at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre here.

The OTDC was designed to create greater public awareness that truck driving is an important and necessary profession.

Through a series of difficult, competitive tests that measure the level of driver expertise, the contestant’s knowledge of rules of the road, safety, courtesy and efficiency in vehicle handling are evaluated.

Six Competitive Classes will be included in the championships. They are: Step Van, Straight Truck, Single-Single, Single-Tandem, Tandem-Tandem and Train.

Up to 500 people are involved in this event, including delegates, participants and their families, judges and committees, and key industry decision makers, plus many more spectators. The winner of the 2002 Truck World Media Challenge, Daryl Dahmer, will also be on hand.
