TORONTO, Ont. — The 407ETR toll highway north of Toronto is preparing to roll out a rewards program for frequent users, the Canadian Press is reporting.

“It’s true that we’re making final preparations to launch a rewards program on Thursday,” spokesman Dale Albers told the Canadian Press yesterday. “While I can’t share any details right now, I can tell you that customers will save money both on and off the highway.”

Reports suggest frequent travellers will see their toll bills slashed by as much as 15%. Those who travel more than 1,500 km per month on the toll road will reap the biggest rewards, according to the report.

During the first year of the reward program, its expected 407ETR will give away about 40 million free weekend kilometres. Cheap fuel is another reward reportedly being considered.
