7 Ways to Know You’ve Found a Treasure Trove of Trucking Info
TORONTO — If you’re reading this story, you’ve obviously got very good taste in trucking journalism.
Not only is todaystrucking.com produced under the watch of North America’s most eagle-eyed trucking journalist Rolf Lockwood, but last week, another writing competition proved that when it comes to this website’s monthly paper version, Today’s Trucking, as Captain Jack Sparrow might say, “Here be good yarns.”
Thursday, at the annual meeting of an organization called the Truck Writers of North America (TWNA), writers and editors for the Today’s Trucking carted home no less than seven prizes for producing top-notch stories about the trucking industry.
Vice President, Editorial and the founding editor of Today’s Trucking Lockwood claimed no less than three awards. His feature on natural-gas powered trucks “Doing without Diesel,” won two gold prizes. And his editorial called “Hi-Tech Side Up” earned a silver.
Former Senior Editor of Today’s Trucking and current VP Communications and New Media at the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) Marco Beghetto earned a gold for an HOS feature called “Going Back in Time.”
Today’s Trucking contributing editors Steve Bouchard and Allan Janssen earned silver awards. Bouchard’s entry was a clear-eyed analysis of the local food movement called “Grains of Truth,” while Janssen’s was a look at how many unlicensed drivers are on our highways, called “Papers, Please.”
Finally, Today’s Trucking Editor Peter Carter collected a silver for his column Rear View, which appears on the back page of each issue.
