A lighter fifth wheel

Holland’s new FleetMaster lightweight fifth wheel features an improved locking system, higher vertical load rating, and optional LowLube and air release technology.

The fifth wheel’s cast steel top plate weighs only 222 pounds and is machined to precise flatness to provide greater load bearing area, reduce friction, and prevent uneven wear. The vertical load rating has increased from 45,000 to 50,000 pounds.

The optional LowLube technology features low-friction inserts (bonded to a steel backing plate) securely fastened into recesses in the top plate.

Austempered, ductile iron inserts fit between the top plate and the fifth wheel brackets. These inserts maintain constant lubrication between the top plate, upper coupler, and brackets. The in-cab air release system permits control of coupling and uncoupling from inside the cab.
