A Trucker’s Guide to E-Commerce

It’s easy to dream up ways to sell your product or service online — and end up drained of time, energy, and most important, capital. To help you avoid these pitfalls, Industry Canada, Transport Canada, and the Canadian Trucking Alliance have developed a starter kit with practical information for trucking companies pondering a leap into e-commerce.

“E-Commerce and the Canadian Trucking Industry” is published in two booklets: a handbook with case studies and an overview of things to consider before laying a virtual cornerstone on your online store, and a “tool kit” that looks at how to plan and deploy an e-commerce strategy. For copies, contact a provincial trucking association, Transport Canada (613/998-1909; www.tc.gc.ca), or Industry Canada (613/954-3441; www.strategis.ic.gc.ca).

The booklets are free and, mercifully, in layman’s terms.
