AC tester diagnoses problems

A new AC tester has been developed jointly by SPX Robinair and Neutronics, providing a simple, yet specific method of pinpointing vehicle AC system faults.

The hand-held tester contains a data bank of thousands of pieces of data covering various failure modes. The tool receives data from the vehicle being serviced through two connections, and the tool automatically determines and reveals which AC system failures are most likely.

The tool is set up to guide the technician through the steps necessary to acquire data needed to confirm the diagnosis. It’s capable of diagnosing condenser, compressor, refrigerant charge, clutch cycling or evaporator failure, as well as revealing AC system line restrictions. The technician can then print out a detailed record of the logged data.
