Acquisition gives Ancra a boost

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Ancra’s purchase of S-line Cargo Control and Safety Products last fall has allowed the company to expand product offerings to customers by 25 percent.

Speaking at the Mid America Trucking show in Louisville, Ky., Ralph Abato, director of sales and marketing for the cargo securement company, said "new product depth represents important new sources of revenue for our distributors.

A broader range of products means greater customer choice and the new 2009 catalog features over 100 new part numbers, he said, adding that Ancra now has one of the largest distribution networks in the nation and enhanced services such as complete metal fabrication, including custom welding, press break and stamping are also now being utilized by customers.

Abato said the acquisition has also allowed Ancra to close a number of large deals and that it is in the process of negotiating significant new contracts. "It’s a simple formula," Abato said. "We’re expanding our existing business and picking up new business because we have more to offer and in the weakened economy."

Meanwhile, Ancra says it is the first member of the Web, Sling and Tie Down Association to gain accreditation by the Automotive Manufacturers Compliance Agency (AMECA).
