Alberta’s best set to meet the rest

RED DEER, Alta. — Six of Alberta’s best professional commercial drivers emerged from the Provincial Truck Driving Championships held in Red Deer on June 24.

The competition was hosted by the Alberta Motor Transport Association and is an exercise in timed precision driving. The competition was open to all professional truck drivers with an Alberta driver’s licence, who have been accident-free for one year.

The top drivers in each of the six competition categories will head to Quebec City for the national competition this fall.

Representing Alberta will be: Randy Smith of Canadian Freightways, Step Van; Keith Franklin of Canadian Freightways, Straight Truck; Terry Francis of SLH Transport, Single-Single; Keith Day of SLH Transport, Single-Tandem; Gary Phillipo of Ab Transport Training, Tandem-Tandem; and Bill Mihalcheon of Canadian Freightways, B-Train.
