AMTA conference drawing near

CALGARY, Alta. — The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) is hosting its annual Management Conference and Annual General Meeting Apr. 29-May 1 in Banff.

The event will take place at the Rimrock Resort Hotel, with activities getting underway Apr. 29 with a reception followed by lunch and several awards presentations.

In addition to a spousal program, the annual general meeting will take place Friday afternoon followed by a business session on how to recruit experienced staff from outside Canada. The speaker will be Larry Pana, director of economic immigration, Alberta Economic Development.

Canadian Trucking Alliance chief, David Bradley, will present on Friday evening about current national issues affecting Alberta carriers. Comedian Jebb Fink will provide the evening’s entertainment.

Saturday morning will feature breakfast followed by two important presentations. Cliff Soper of the Transportation Training and Development Association will talk about TT&DA activities. And Roger Clarke with Alberta Transportation will speak about the revival of the Partners in Compliance program. TSN star Michael Landsberg of "Off the Record" fame will be the guest speaker at lunch on Saturday.
