AMTA elects new president, directors

BANFF, Alta. (May 5, 2005) — Jim Davis of Economy Carriers Ltd. was elected the new president of the Alberta Motor Transport Association for the 2005-06 term. He takes over for Wayne Pedersen of Pedersen Transport, who is credited for his hard work at leading and maintaining the association — which experienced a handful of administrative changes and a shift in the group’s focus over the last year.

Tom Kenny, general manager of Westcan Bulk Transport Ltd. is the outgoing Past President. He was honoured by the association with the Service to the Industry Award. (Read more in following TodaysTrucking.com story).

Additionally, Bob Hill with Hill Bros. Expressways and Greg Sokil of Sokil Express Lines have been elected for two-year terms. Gordon Mackan with SGT2000 Inc. has been elected for a one-year term.

The new President-Elect is Henry Van SteenBergen with Legal Freight Services Ltd.

Also appointed to the Board were Guy Blasetti of Big Horn Transport as Regional Director for Red Deer; Lyle Rosenau with Rosenau Transport as Regional Director for Southern Alberta; and Wes Schneider with Rainbow Transport as Regional Director for Edmonton.
