CALGARY, Alta. — The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) has set aside $10,000 to kickstart a non-profit educational foundation.

The foundation will operate at arms length from the AMTA and will have its own Board of Directors. The association is currently drafting bylaws for the foundation and it will soon be registered as a non-profit organization.

The proposed objectives of the foundation include: promoting and assisting in the establishment of high standards of education for the transport industry; provide annual scholarships; advice on the development of transport-related educational programs; offer value-added services to members; and foster and promote a professional image of the industry.

If interested in helping establish the foundation, call Peter Vaudry at 403 214-3438.
