APTA awards to be presented this week

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association will be hosting its 54th Annual Convention at the Delta Prince Edward starting tomorrow and running through until Saturday.

Five industry awards will be presented at the convention: Driver of the Year, Dispatcher of the Year, Service to Industry Award, Good Samaritan Award and the Safety to Motor Transportation Award.

Along with the award presentations, the APTA will hold its annual general meeting, there will be keynote speakers from the industry discussing topics such as federal labour standards and hiring immigrant truck drivers.

The program will be interspersed with East Coast hospitality and will include the annual lobster feast.
