DIEPPE, N.B. — The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) is once again looking for nominees for the 2005 Industry Awards to be held during their Annual Convention Oct. 27-29. Four awards are up for grabs during the event.

The Driver of the Year award recognizes all around distinction in driving, courtesy, safety, and community activity. The Atlantic winner is selected by the APTA Safety Council and then goes on to the national level, where the Canada’s driver of the year is chosen.

The Safety to Motor Transportation award is given to an individual who is actively involved in promoting road safety in the trucking industry.

The Good Samaritan award goes to the person who has made the greatest contribution to the wellbeing in the industry over the past year.

According to the APTA, the Dispatcher of the Year award is presented “to the segment of our industry that is sometimes overlooked when accolades are being passed out; the men and women who keep our trucks rolling; our dispatchers.”

Application and nomination forms for the awards are available from the APTA office. All forms must be returned to the APTA office no later than Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. For more information visit www.apta.ca.
