Arrow puts struggling driver back on the road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Trucker Robert Snyder is coming out of this recession intact. And he has his daughter to thank for it.

Snyder’s teenage daughter, Savannah, submitted her dad’s name for Arrow Trucks Sales’ Back On the Road campaign, which, in its third year, helps one lucky driver who’s been struggling to make ends meet during the recession.

The judges were struck by Savannah’s words and announced the Florida-based driver the winner of the contest at the Mid-America Trucking Show last week in Louisville, Ky. (click here for video coverage).

"My dad isn’t like most fathers, husbands, or even like most guys who are going through hard times," Savannah wrote in nominating her dad. "He constantly puts everybody before himself. Money is tight and our family is struggling. I want the weight lifted off of my dad’s shoulders; I want him to smile. Not those fake smiles. The smile we haven’t seen in years."

As the winner of Back on the Road, Snyder receives a 2007 Volvo VNL 670, courtesy of Volvo Trucks North America, a one-year work agreement with Heartland Express and other products and services, including:

XOne XDA Energy tires from Michelin, a TriPac auxiliary power unit from Thermo King; monthly $500 fuel cards from Pilot Travel Centers; and insurance from the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA), among others.
