ATA chairman to ask Washington to clear freight bottlenecks, fix roads
WASHINGTON, D.C. — American Trucking Associations (ATA) chairman Ray Kuntz will address a US Senate panel today in an attempt to provide direction for federal surface transportation programs that would increase productivity for the trucking industry.
Kuntz, who is also CEO of Watkins and Shepard Trucking, will be testifying before the Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. He plans to stress the importance of clearing freight bottlenecks and improving rural highways. Kuntz will also emphasize that the public interest must be protected if tolls or private financing are used to fund infrastructure projects.
Kuntz also plans to discuss reforms to federal truck size and weight limits in the US. The hearing gets underway this morning at 10 a.m.
