Atlantic truckers working hard for charity

MONCTON, N.B. – The Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association, in conjunction with the Atlantic Truck Show held in Moncton have raised about $70,000 to support the fight against juvenile diabetes and other causes.

In the last four years, APTA has awarded almost $ 20,000 for bursaries to students in the New Brunswick Community Colleges.

In 2008, there were 3 bursaries of $1,000 awarded to students enrolled in the Transportation and Logistics Management program at the Community College in Dieppe, NB.

The goodwill continues this year at the Atlantic Truck Show, to be held June 12-13.

Peter Nelson, executive director of APTA says they are excited for the 2009 edition.

"The trucking community is a tight knit group and these charities are close to all of the members’ hearts," says Nelson. "This is the ideal venue to relax, network and have a great meal, but at the same time you are supporting a great cause and the next generation that will carry on this proud and integral industry."
