Aux Generators watches idling like a hawk
Aux Generators
Aux Generators of Dundalk, Ont. unveiled its new Idle Hawk auxiliary generator, which provides power support for cab air conditioning, heating, battery charging and engine block heating.
The company says the 315-pound Idle Hawk requires less maintenance and installation time than most generators due to the unit’s roll-out feature, which exposes it to 360-degree accessibility without any disconnection of hoses or cables. The company says service is also facilitated by a reduction from over 300 moving parts and components of most generators to fewer than a 100.
The generator’s engine is a one-cylinder, air-oil cooled Kubota diesel, with 9.5 hp. The cooling system is a R134A hermetic compressor with self-contained motor. Electric heating is thermostatically controlled and independent of the main engine, and provides 1800 watts.
Sleeper controls include a master control panel with manual control and fully automatic modes. It contains an hour meter, high and low temperature engine oil shut off, with fault light indicators, as well as a preheat button and temperature settings.
Also, when the unit is set to auto mode, the company says it will cycle between on and off to maintain battery charge, by either the A/C or the heating as required, and shuts down when sleeper temperature has been reached.
