The event, held at the Chandni Banquet Hall in Brampton, Ont., was attended by more than 500 people, including Santa Claus, who posed for photos and doled out gifts to the children in attendance.

The event began with a welcome from Dr. Ranvir Sharda, who served as Master of Ceremonies for the night, before guests heard speeches from several dignitaries.

Political guests included the Honourable Harinder S. Takhar, Member of Parliament for Mississauga-Erindale and Minister of Government Services; Her Worship Susan Fennell, Mayor of Brampton; the Honourable Bal Gosal, Member of Parliament for Bramalea-Gore-Malton and Minister of State (Sports); Vic Dhillon, Member of Provincial Parliament for Brampton West; Jagmeet Singh, Member of Provincial Parliament for Bramalea-Gore-Malton; Pam Bhangal, PCC candidate; Priti Lamba, PCC candidate; and Harinder Malhi, School Trustee.

Avaal was also joined by Claudia Milicevic, general manager of TransCore Link Logistics who recently began serving her term as president of the Toronto Transportation Club.

Avaal president Dara Nagra gave guests a welcome speech, which highlighted many of the company’s accomplishments in 2011, including the completion of its 66th Dispatch Course at its Brampton campus; the completion of its 15th Dispatch Course at its Vancouver campus; and the grand opening of its newest location in Winnipeg, which saw the completion of its 5th Dispatch Course by year’s end.

Live entertainment between speeches included performances by the Acro-Circus Extravaganza and a variety of dancers, before guests partook of an Indian buffet.

“[We] would like to thank everyone who was able to attend the function and everyone involved in making the event a huge success,” Avaal officials said in a release.
