Nationally, the lowest U.S. diesel prices are in the Gulf Coast region. Diesel fuel in the area costs an average of US$1.340 per gallon, down from US$1.346 last week.

The most expensive diesel fuel is in California, where the highest average price is US$1.512 per gallon, down from US$1.524.

The weekly average price reports from the U.S. Energy Department are based on a survey of 350 diesel service centres across the United States.
