B.C. Commercial Port of Entry Closing for 2 Weeks

ALDERGROVE, BC — The Canada Border Services Agency has advised that commercial operations will cease temporarily at the Aldergrove port of entry (POE), from Monday, Nov. 9 through Sunday, Nov. 22 to accommodate construction.

According to the British Columbia Trucking Association, also beginning Nov. 9 the Aldergrove POE will be configured with four regular traffic lanes open from 8 am to midnight, seven days a week.

During that time, all medium and large commercial vehicles must use the Pacific Highway or Abbotsford-Huntingdon (Sumas) commercial crossings. Commercial importers in small vehicles will be able to access the Aldergrove POE through the regular, non-commercial traffic lanes.

The CBSA Aldergrove commercial facility will resume operations on Nov. 23, seven days a week, from 8 am to midnight, PST, including statutory holidays.

To support the new Aldergrove configuration, the Washington State Department of Transportation will open two additional northbound lanes from the U.S. on State Route 539 on Nov. 9. For more information, visit the Washington State Department of Transportation website.

According to BCTA, while all of this may be an inconvenience in the short-term, after this two-week period carriers will have access to a fully operational and modern commercial facility at Aldergrove.
