LANGLEY, B.C. — Canadian Freightways driver Dale Scott of Mission, B.C., was named Grand Champion at B.C.’s 2013 Professional Truck Driving Championships, held at Abbotsford’s Tradex Centre June 22. Scott and his fellow Canadian Freightways drivers at the event – Robert Balan (Surrey), Jack Newton (Kelowna), and Jose Lecinana (Sooke) – also won the team trophy at the competition.

Rookie of the Year went to Brent Locke, Simard Westlink driver from Port Coquitlam, while Steve Dawydiak, a Richmond-based driver for ABC Traders, came away with the 2013 Safety Award.

Within individual categories, first-place winners were as follows: Danny Wilson (Langley) of Overland West Freight Lines in the Straight Truck category; Jose Lecinana in Single-Single; Dale Scott in Single-Tandem; John Broker (Port Coquitlam) of Martin Brower in Tandem-Tandem; and Lorne Roadhouse (Surrey) of Overland West Freight Lines in Super B-Train.

Each of the category winners will represent B.C. in the 2013 National Championships in Abbotsford in September, competing against drivers from other provincial competitions across Canada.
