B.C. expands vehicle length permit policy
LANGLEY, B.C. (April 11, 2005) — B.C.’s Commercial Vehicle Safety & Enforcement (CVSE) Division has expanded term permit policy for carriers to obtain permits for loads up to 3.8 metres wide and 31 metres overall length, 4.3 metres in height, 6.5 metres rear projection and 3 metres front projection (except for cranes).
The decision — which is in response to long-standing lobbying from the B.C. Trucking Association — also allows overheight term permits for loads up to 5.33 metres in height in the Peace River region, BCTA reports.
The permit fee is $30 per month per vehicle. Vehicles that already have a valid term permit will only require a T-50 amendment with the new term dimensions and the applicable T forms. T forms are available at weigh scales or on-line at http://www.pssg.gov.bc.ca/cvse/Manual/Compliance/Forms/index.htm.
