B.C. opens 85,000 kg corridor

VICTORIA — B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation has opened up Hwy 1 from the Afton Interchange west of Kamloops to the Tobiano Exit to truckloads of 85,000 kg.

Doug Elliot of the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) confirmed that the ministry and its Bridge Engineering Branch recently evaluated the route and approved it for loads in excess of 64 000kg and up to 85 000kg. The stretch contains no bridges or overpasses, Elliot says.

This amendment for overload permit routes will be added to Bulletin 24 on the CVSE’s website (www.th.gov.bc.ca/cvse — click on link below) Paragraph 5, Schedule “E” of the Commercial Transport Procedures Manual in the near future.
