BCTA gets BC Ferries to drop surcharge

VICTORIA — Thanks to ongoing pressure from the B.C. Trucking Association, the “weekend surcharge” for commercial vehicles on BC Ferries’ Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay route has been scrapped as are over-width charges on main Vancouver Island routes.

Starting tomorrow, April 1, 2008, B.C. Ferries will eliminate the Horseshoe Bay weekend surcharge and that all commercial vehicles, no matter how wide, will be uniformly subject to the new $4.85-per-foot rate on the Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay, Tsawwassen-Duke Point, and Horseshoe Bay -Departure Bay routes.
