Beaver State builds on biodiesel mandate

SALEM, Ore. – Oregon has increased the bio blend mandated for diesel from 2 percent (B2) to five percent (B5).

The statewide requirement took effect this week.

It will join Minnesota as the two states with the highest required biodiesel content in the U.S.

According to the National Biodiesel Board Oregon’s B5 requirement was to be phased in once production capacity reached 15 million gallons annually, which was recently accomplished.

As for Minnesota, its required biodiesel blend is set to rise to B10 by 2012, and B20 by 2015.
