Bell launches affordable wireless tracking for small fleets
TORONTO, (June 2, 2005) — Bell Mobility, a division of Bell
Canada, has launched GoTrax, an affordable wireless tracking system for small and medium sized fleets and mobile workforces.
Designed for transportation, utility, courier-delivery, field service, construction and distribution industries, GoTrax represents Canada’s first ever handset-based technology that allows resources to be tracked in places where traditional GPS signals don’t work, the company says.
“Big businesses have used remote tracking services to dramatically reduce costs, and improve productivity and customer service for some time,” said Jim Jacques, senior vice-president of Marketing for Bell Canada, in a release. “We have designed GoTrax as a highly innovative but low-cost remote-tracking solution for SMEs that delivers productivity and service improvements available previously only to major corporations.”
GoTrax uses Assisted GPS — a unique combination of global positioning system (GPS) and Bell Mobility wireless technologies — to provide companies with the ability to achieve faster response times to customer service calls, make more efficient use of field force resources, offer added security for mobile employees and leverage investments in existing wireless devices.
By using familiar technology — wireless handsets and the Internet — GoTrax is quickly adaptable by users, giving them unlimited ability to locate individual or multiple assets such as vehicles, packages and individuals, issue proximity alerts, maintain daily interactive activity logs and run detailed reports from one or multiple locations, the company says.
GoTrax also sets a new standard for location-based privacy with necessary pass codes and mandatory permission requirements that puts the customer in control of privacy.
The system is available across Bell Mobility’s national 1X network. The service can be added to new and existing Bell Mobility accounts for a $1 application fee. The minimum, 20 locates per month, costs $5, up to a maximum of 2,500 locates for $30 per month. Out of bundle locates are $0.05 each.
