Bell rings for MTA’s fuel school

WINNIPEG — Are you tired of hearing about so-and-so getting government grants to outfit his fancy rigs with APUs while you’re stuck idling in Flin Flon?

Ever catch yourself wondering if all that talk about green technologies and fuel-efficient trucks is credible or just so much hogwash?

This week, southern and central Manitoba truckers have an opportunity to cut through the fog when it comes to green trucking and maybe even find out if there’s free money to be had in it.

On Thursday, June 18, the Vehicle Maintenance Council of the Manitoba Trucking Association is hosting a "Fuel Reduction/Green Technologies" seminar with representatives from Manitoba’s Infrastructure and Transportation program; Natural Resources Canada; the Centre for Sustainable Development and finally, the innovative fleet Bison Transport.

It’s an opportunity for you to learn more about what sorts of technologies are available, how to take advantage of rebates; how new technologies will affect your maintenance practices and, finally, whether it’s all worth it or not.

The event will be held at the Greenwood Inn and Suites on Wellington Ave., in Winnipeg. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., dinner’s at 6:00 and the presentation starts at 6:30.

And the cost? For members of the Vehicle Maintenance Council, $20. For MTA members, $30 and non-members pay $40.
