KIRKLAND, Wash. — The Bendix ABS-6 system is now standard on Kenworth Class 8 trucks with air brake systems.

The system is designed to improve serviceability and serves as a platform to add new features. For example, Kenworth now offers Bendix ABS-6 Advanced with ESP (Electronic Stability Program) as an option on selected Kenworth T600, T800 and W900 tractor configurations.

“Kenworth continues to make available technology systems that may provide cost-effective solutions and benefits to customers,” said Mike Dozier, Kenworth’s chief engineer. “Now that the Bendix ABS-6 system is standard, Kenworth is able to offer ABS-6 Advanced with ESP as an option on selected Kenworth Class 8 tractors, such as fuel haulers.”

According to Bendix, key benefits of Bendix ABS-6 Advanced with ESP include superior traction systems. The system is designed to help stabilize the vehicle during under- and over- steer driving situations and may assist in avoiding a potential rollover by intervening and selectively applying tractor and trailer brakes, as well as de-throttling the engine to help control the vehicle in a jackknife condition.
