Bendix now offering SmarTire TPMS

ELYRIA, Ohio — Bendix is now offering its recently-acquired SmarTire Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) through its dealer network as well as independent aftermarket suppliers.

The system monitors tire inflation pressures and temperatures, providing the driver or technician with real-time readings. Drivers can then take action to avoid tire-related problems before they become dangerous.

SmarTire reads the tire information using sensors inside the tire and communicates the information wirelessly to an on-board receiver. A two-inch display on the vehicle’s dash provides the driver with the information.

“Tires and fuel are major cost factors for fleets and owner/operators – and the first step to reducing tire-related costs and improving fuel economy is to make sure tires are at their optimum inflation level,” said Fred Andersky, Bendix director of marketing, controls.

“The temperature-compensated tire pressure deviation reported by the system ensures that maintenance teams and drivers always know the tire pressure. And they can maintain it at any time, whether the tire is hot or cold. Plus, the system is easily retrofitted for almost any commercial vehicle, so fleets and owner operators alike can start improving ROI immediately. When you consider the savings in fuel, maintenance and tire wear, the system can pay for itself in as little as eight months.”

The SmarTire system can be purchased as a complete kit for easy installation, Bendix reports.
