Big Rig Nationals revving up for big 2009

GRAND BEND, Ont. — The Earl Hardy Big Rig Nationals is looking to bring more action to 2009 and is expanding to a second day to make it all happen.

Traditionally held the second week of September, the Big Rig Nationals is also moving into the heat of the summer and will take place at the Grand Bend Motorplex from July 10 – 11.

“This event simply outgrew its timeslot,” said Paul Spriet, COO of Grand Bend Motorplex. “With its continued success and the support of the truckers, the fans and of course the advertisers that make it all possible, we knew it was time to really let it ‘spread it’s wings’ so to speak.”

The Earl Hardy Big Rig Nationals, features all truck drag racing, as well as the Team Truck Centres Show and Shine, with over 20 class awards. A licensed beer garden, onsite camping with washroom and shower facilities.

Grand Bend Motorplex has added Sherry Clarke to the team to help build and nurture the new format for the Big Rig Nationals.

“Sherry was a founding member and instrumental builder of the Fergus event, so we were thrilled when she agreed to join us,” added Spriet. “She told us that she knew the event was poised to ‘take off’ and wanted to be a part of it.”

Sherry Clarke will be responsible for coordinating vendor displays and hospitality for the expanded Big Rig Nationals, as well as registrations for the Team Truck Centres Show and Shine. She can be contacted at 519-238-7223 Ext.24 or by email at truck.event@gmail.com.
