Bison prez recognized for industry contributions

WINNIPEG — Don Streuber has accomplished quite a bit since taking the lead at Bison Transport and his Manitoba peers have acknowledged his work.

The president and CEO of Bison Transport was awarded the Manitoba Trucking Association’s 2008 Trailmobile Service to Industry Award.

Under Streuber’s direction, Bison has raised the bar and become a leader in the transportation industry, with a focus on technology, safety, human resource development, and the environment.

Bison continues to implement innovative technologies such as automated transmissions, traction control, collision warning systems and roll stability systems. The carrier also continues to actively research new devises and technologies that have contributed to improving industry impact on the environment and providing a safer atmosphere for drivers and the general public.

Streuber’s leadership efforts at Bison have contributed to an excess of 15.6 million kg of green house gas emission reductions annually. These goals were achieved through investments of auto-shift transmissions, auxiliary power units, aerodynamic after-market products, fuel efficient tires, adaptive cruise, and extensive use of long combination vehicles.

Streuber also sits as the chairman of the board for Monarch Industries Limited and Providence College and Theological Seminary. He is a director of the Exchange Industrial Income Fund, a director of the Assiniboine Park Conservancy, a member of the Red River Capital Campaign, vice-chairman of the Business Council of Manitoba, and a member of the Manitoba International Gateway Council. Additionally, he is the Honorary Consul General of Austria for Manitoba.
