OTTAWA — Industry Minister Allan Rock hinted that the federal government will soon announce that it will fund major border crossing projects in New Brunswick.

“We hope to announce real progress very soon,” Rock said in response to a question from New Brunswick Southwest Progressive Conservative MP Greg Thompson.

Thompson said the provincial government has proposed a major improvement to the border crossing at Woodstock.

It also wants the construction of a ring road and a bridge to direct highway traffic around St. Stephen.

The projects will cost up to $100 million.

“The Liberal members from New Brunswick have brought to my attention the need for border infrastructure improvement at both Woodstock and St. Stephen,” Rock said. “We have been in discussion with our partners in the Government of New Brunswick."
