MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For the third consecutive year, FedEx Freight has been named Transportation Provider of the Year by Borders Group Inc., the parent company of Borders Books & Music and Waldenbooks.

The retailer measures tactical performance indicators, including on-time delivery, shipment tracking and billing accuracy as well as corporate leadership in several areas, including innovation and technology. FedEx Freight is a leading provider of regional and inter-regional less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services and is a subsidiary of FedEx Corp.

Borders Group evaluates a number of providers across all modes, including less-than-truckload carriers, as well as third-party logistics providers, in selecting its annual Transportation Provider of the Year.

"FedEx Freight adds real value to our supply chain. From the executive office to the loading dock, they truly understand and are engaged in our business. This allows us to work together to develop strategic solutions that address future needs, as well as seeking continuous improvement in today’s performance," said Fred Boehler, director of supply chain management for Borders Group.

FedEx Freight provides LTL service to 315 Borders Books and Music and Waldenbooks stores in the western U.S.
