Brantford restricts truck weights on Lorne Bridge

by Truck News

BRANTFORD, Ont. — Trucks weighing more than 30 tonnes are not allowed on Brantford’s Lorne Bridge this winter.

City council passed a bylaw restricting truck size on the bridge after a study found the structure’s strength is affected by cold weather, the Brantford Expositor reports.

An alternative truck route along Veterans Memorial Parkway has been put in place from Nov. 1 to March 31.

About 300 heavy vehicles cross the bridge each day, the Expositor reports, but few weigh more than 30 tonnes. You can read the full report here.
