Bridge corporation taps lawyer for board of directors

OTTAWA, Ont. — Federal Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities Lawrence Cannon, recently announced the appointment of Arthur Hamilton to the board of directors of the Federal Bridge Corporation.

Hamilton graduated with a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Toronto and a bachelor of laws from York University. He was called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in February 1997. Beginning with Cassels Brock and Blackwell in 1996 as an articling student, Hamilton was moved to partner in January 2003.

His current work focuses on issues of corporate governance disputes, alternative dispute resolution processes and contracts.

“I am pleased that Mr. Hamilton has agreed to serve as a member of the board of the Federal Bridge Corporation Limited,” said Cannon. “His professional experience will be an asset to the corporation.”

The Federal Bridge Corporation and its subsidiary organizations engage in a range of activities to ensure that the bridges, tunnels, roadways and other structures under their control are safe, modern, efficient, environmentally sound and well maintained.

Incorporated in 1998, the corporation is responsible for the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Inc., the Seaway International Bridge Corporation Ltd. and the management of the Canadian half of the Thousand Islands International Bridge and the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge.
