By day, a cabinet minister; after hours an ink-stained wretch

OTTAWA — Next time somebody tells you cabinet ministers are out of touch with the common folk, send them this link.

It’s a photograph taken by none other than Canada’s Industry Minister Tony Clement, which he posted on his twitter feed after getting stuck in traffic on Hwy. 400 north of Toronto last week.

With the photo, Clement tweeted "Big truck rollovers on Hwy 11 Southbound @ 9th Line has gridlocked traffic both ways incl me. Slow down people!."

The photo was picked up by SunMedia News. And after that happened, Clement twittered that he is just another "ink-stained wretch."

Perhaps, then, Clement might make a good political recruit to help truckers get anti-rollover technology subsidized on new equipment?

According to the Globe and Mail, Clement "occasionally…uses his personal iPhone like an eyewitness news reporter."

The Globe says Clement’s twitter http://twitter.com/tonyclement_MP feed is a must-read for news junkies and reporters. Rumor has it, he can be very witty.
