Canada’s Grimshaw Trucking Receives PeopleNet Award

PHOENIX, AZ and MINNEAPOLIS, MN – A Canadian trucking company is among the recipients of an honor that recognizes fleets for using products and services from one mobile technology provider to create solutions to improve their business.

Edmonton-based Grimshaw Trucking is one of four carriers in Canada and the U.S. to receive the PeopleNet 2015 Innovator of the Year Awards that were presented on Tuesday during the company’s 13th annual users conference.

Since 2006, Grimshaw Trucking has integrated a wide array of PeopleNet services into its trucking operations including e-driver logs, onboard event recording, speed monitoring, vehicle management, dispatch integration and messaging, according to a news release. The PeopleNet BLU.2 device and communication system allows fleet management to maintain two-way communication with its drivers and closely monitor operator behavior to ensure safety standards are met.

Through integration with the PeopleNet system for their payroll operations, Grimshaw decreased their highway driver turnover to 8 percent, which is a 50 percent reduction year-over-year, translating to thousands of dollars in cost savings.

Following customer nominations and testimonials, recipients were selected by the PeopleNet Product Advisory Council, a group of customers that meet regularly to provide PeopleNet feedback and guidance on its product development strategy.

Three other carriers, all based in the U.S., also received awards; Star Transport LLC, Quickway Carriers and Kroger Co.

PeopleNet, owned by Trimble Co., has more than 2,000 truckload, less-than-truckload, private, and energy services fleet customers in Canada and the U.S.
