OTTAWA, Ont. — Canadas exports surged to a record $40.8 billion in January while imports declined, resulting in a higher trade surplus.

It was the third straight month that Canadas exports increased. Canada is experiencing its largest trade surplus since December, 2005.

Exports to the US were up 0.4% despite drops in automotive and energy products.
