MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — Forty-nine commercial vehicle inspectors representing enforcement jurisdictions in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. recently squared off at the North American Inspectors’ Championship.

Among the competitors, Monty Kinder of Colorado was crowned grand champion, while Ewoud VanGoch, of Ontario, was the top point-earning Canuck.

VanGoch actually had a third place finish in the motor coach inspection division. At the same time, Alberta’s Trudy Iwanyshyn claimed a third in HazMat and cargo tank inspection.

This year’s program began with training sessions dealing with critical issues, including those prompted by events surrounding Sept. 11. The inspectors shared what they and their agency are doing to combat terrorism.
