Cancom Tracking
Cancom Tracking, a division of Shaw Communications, has added another feature to its SensorTRACS offering. With heightened increase on safety, Cancom has released Hard Braking. With SensorTRACS you are able to show that a sound driver training program, driver monitoring, and driver feedback programs are in place, which can be used as a negotiating tool towards lower insurance rates, the company says.

Hard Braking is currently available to Cancom equipped customers who are also equipped with SensorTRACS. Operating primarily on AS400, hard
braking works with Cancom’s proprietary software QTRACS. Once the QTRACS software detects a decrease in speed of 9 miles per second the on-board
computer sends a message to the engine alerting dispatch.

Constant hard braking by a driver may warrant your safety and compliance manager to work with these drivers ensuring a mutual agreement to their safety as well as the public, the company advises.

SensorTRACS is a component of OmniTRACS that provides information to increase fuel savings, reduce engine wear, and improve driver performance. SensorTRACS interfaces directly with your vehicle’s sensor inputs to provide RPM, speed, and idle summaries so you can isolate vehicle operations in the driver’s control. The information is provided to dispatch at customer defined intervals or on-demand via Cancom’s mobile communication systems and require no driver intervention.
