MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Cancom Tracking recently announced Le Groupe CIS – The CIS Group became a Cancom Certified Software Partner.

The CIS group provides operations management software for companies involved in distribution, sales and transportation.

Working with Cancom Tracking’s patented Circle of Service, the CIS Group takes the information provided by drivers and unites it with their software using Rapid ‘s message management module. Drivers will be able to update shipment status and receive load assignments through OmniTRACS. OmniTRACS also transmits vehicle-positioning information that can be integrated into the CIS Group software. Most of the information currently entered by drivers and dispatchers will be captured, transferred via OmniTRACS, and then updated automatically into Rapid.

"To summarize, Rapid really is a Management tool for all road transportation operations. Everything in a transportation organization can be integrated with this software, and with our new Cancom certification all the drivers day to day activity can be automatically updated in the system, eliminating the need for manual data entry," said Francine Noel, CIS Group Director Development.

Drivers can record 90 per cent of dispatch events from arrived at shipper, hours worked, through to delivery of the load (TL) or partial load (LTL). This will save countless hours of mundane entry allowing the dispatch to find back-hauls as well as additional partial shipments, thereby helping the carrier to reduce empty miles while maximizing trailer capacity and revenue.

"We have several customers currently using the CIS Group’s Rapid software, so we are pleased to be able to offer them integration. Integration is the way of the future, it is becoming more and more difficult for transportation company’s to operate piece meal. Having all aspects of their operations streamlined naturally makes operations more efficient," commented Mike Ham, Vice President of Cancom Tracking.

To become a Certified Software Provider (CSP), each software company candidate must develop the necessary components of an interface between its dispatch software and Cancom Tracking’s OmniTRACS System, and meet the functional macro integration specifications providing application links to a dispatch system.
