Cancom Tracking reaches 15-year milestone

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (April 12, 2005) — Cancom Tracking — the Canadian distributor for satellite tracking company Qualcomm — is celebrating its 15th anniversary providing fleets with the OmniTRACS mobile satellite system.

Cancom provides tracking and messaging for the Canadian trucking industry with more than 32,000 units in use by more than 500 companies having anywhere from 1 to 1,000 trucks. In addition, Cancom independently owns and operates a duplicate network operations center based in Canada with wide-area satellite coverage from Mexico to Alaska.

“The OmniTRACS solution has evolved tremendously in the past 15 years to meet the needs of our customers,” said Mike Ham, vice- president of Cancom Tracking, in a press release. “Cancom is looking forward to the next 15 years.

OmniTRACS provides wireless communication and satellite positioning tools to better manage delivery and service vehicles and equipment. Utilizing a nationwide two-way satellite wireless link, fleets can rapidly locate and contact vehicles at any time regardless of their location. The OmniTRACS mobile communications solution improves productivity, reduces operating costs, enhances customer service and increases vehicle, equipment and cargo security, the company says.
