CAMBRIDGE, Ont. — A group of Ontario carriers are together combing the 401 corridor to spread the word about careers in trucking.

The Corridor Hiring Event kicked off in Cambridge on Jan. 23, at the Best Western Hotel just off Hwy. 401. Several carriers were on-hand to discuss the industry, training and job opportunities.

The Corridor Hiring Events will provide us with an opportunity to not only promote Kriska to new and experienced drivers, but to inform a dynamic up and coming work force about all the exciting opportunities in the trucking industry, said Caroline Blais, corporate recruiter of Kriska Transportation.

Among the carriers who took part were: Erb Group of Companies; Gordon Food Services; Kriska; Schneider National; SelecTrucks; KRTS Transportation Specialists; and TST Truckload Express. Attendance was excellent, participants said, following the event.

Being involved in the Corridor Hiring Event gave us the opportunity to allow the public to see how professional our industry is becoming Laura Quinn of Erb Group, said.

Organizers spoke not only about driving careers, but also careers for dispatchers, mechanics, recruiters and admin staff.

“It was amazing to see such great companies band together, meet their immediate hiring criteria with pre-qualified candidates, as well as help new people with their decisions to view the Transportation Industry as a career path,” added Jayne Gunn, event coordinator.
