MARKHAM, Ont. — CarriersEdge, a provider of online driver improvement programs, and Techni-Com, a producer of commercial vehicle safety and compliance materials, recently announced a partnership that will have Techni-Com’s “Practical” series of driver handbooks added to the CarriersEdge driver development system.

Under the terms of the deal, CarriersEdge will develop online training programs based on the Practical series and offer them to its fleet, school, and owner/operator customers. Techni-Com customers will be able to purchase the programs directly, through existing channels. CarriersEdge will also re-sell the Practical handbooks through the CarriersEdge system.

“Many of our customers have been requesting online training tools to go with the Practical handbooks and classroom materials,” said Rolf VanderZwaag, the president of Techni-Com. “CarriersEdge is known for the quality of their online training and we’re very pleased to be working together to produce these programs.”

“As we continue to expand our library of driver development tools, we’re committed to offering industry-leading content and expertise”, added Mark Murrell, President of CarriersEdge. “The Practical series of handbooks are far and away the most comprehensive and user friendly driver reference materials on the market. We’re excited to have them available through CarriersEdge.”

Techni-Com Practical series of handbooks and training materials includes the Practical Vehicle Inspection, the Practical Cargo Securement, and the Practical Air Brakes publications, currently sold through the provincial trucking associations and the CVSA. Practical Vehicle Inspection will be the first program developed under the new partnership, with a release date scheduled for June.
