EDMONTON, Alta. — Owner/operators for Cascade Carriers and their union have rescinded their 72-hour strike notice and renewed discussions with their carrier.

Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Local 4050, representing 52 owner/operators hauling for the Alberta company, announced it has rescinded its 1 p.m. Feb. 25 strike notice in hopes a last minute deal can be reached.

“We are rescinding the strike notice we had previously given for the owner/operator drivers at Cascade, said CAW national representative Todd Romanow. “Our goal is to secure a new collective agreement that the members can work with for their future needs and we realize that any disruption in service could permanently jeopardize the customer base and that is not in either side’s interest. With due consideration and discussion with our members we have decided to re-focus our efforts on continued negotiations with the company.”
