Challenger fleet captures regional business award
KITCHENER, Ont. — One of Canada’s most well-know fleets was also noticed by the Waterloo Region Business Achievement Awards.
Challenger Motor Freight was given the BMO Harris Private Banking Business of the Year Award at the 26th annual competition, organized by Junior Achievement.
Challenger, one of Canada’s five largest for-hire carriers, was honored for its "technological advancements," particularly in the area of environmental responsibility.
The carrier scored points for spec’ing automatic transmissions, pilot testing LNG heavy trucks, reducing idling among its fleet, and overhauling is Cambridge headquarters to cut down on energy usage.
Organizers noted that Challenger was the only Canadian company to win an award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency a few years ago.
