SAN RAMON, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2002) — ChevronTexaco last month announced the formation of Gulf Lubricants Co., which will manufacture and market lubricants, engine oils, and greases to customers in the Central United States. Products will be aimed at “price-sensitive” customers, the company said.

ChevronTexaco said it plans to expand distribution across the country in 2002.

The Gulf brand, first launched in 1901, was purchased by Chevron Corp. in 1985. Gulf Lubricants is headquartered in San Ramon, Calif., and currently has distribution facilities in Houston and Chicago.
