TORONTO, Ont. — George Armoyan, president and CEO of Clarke Inc., announced that his company has acquired the container ship, MV Shamrock, for US$11.05 million.

The Shamrock had been detained in Portland, Maine since July following repossession by Fortis Bank of the Netherlands, and was the only cargo ship servicing the Portland Harbor.

Clarke is currently in discussions concerning possible trade routes and expects that the ship will begin sailing early in 2005.

Clarke Inc. is evolving into a diversified holding company, investing in transportation and other value-based opportunities in North America to achieve sustainable, profitable growth.
